It may seem like just another comedy plot, using a phone-sex operating business as a gimmick, to let the easy sexual-laced jokes pour from the actors’ mouths, but the idea for the female-driven, raunch-com For A Good Time, Call… is pulled from screenwriter Katie Ann Naylon’s real-life job in college, where she met writing partner and star, Lauren Miller.
While Miller, who is married to actor Seth Rogen, never worked the sex hotline business herself, the duo knew they needed to tell the story in some way, and the screenplay for the film was born. More than two years later, they showed off For A Good Time, Call… to audiences at the Sundance Film Festival, and soon to the rest of the world when it hits theaters August 31.
The subject matter is perfect material for a red band trailer, suitable only for adults, and that’s just the kind of trailer Tory Shulman likes to breakdown.
