Back in 1995, Sylvestor Stallone starred as the wrongfully convicted Judge Dredd, which was based on the character originally introduced in the British comic-book 2000 A.D. in 1977. Dredd is one of several law enforcement officers of the future who have the combined powers of police, judge, jury and executioner. That original film also starred Oscar® nominees Diane Lane (Unfaithful), Max von Sydow (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close), and comedian Rob Schneider.
Of course, with the advantages of modern technology in the hands of today’s filmmakers, updating and reintroducing characters like Dredd has become common place since Hollywood can now recreate a more detailed environment – in this case a futuristic waste land. Director Pete Travis (Vantage Point) not only brings Dredd back to movie theaters on September 21st with an updated look and style, starring Karl Urban (Star Trek), he also delivers it in full 3D.
And as tradition has it here on The Seven Sees, where there’s a trailer, there’s Tory Shulman to break it all down. Watch as Tory gives her comedic take on Dredd 3D in this Trailer Breakdown.
