Since its release May 4th, Marvel’s The Avengers has made nearly $1.2 billion worldwide and counting, a hugely impressive take that suits a movie of this superhero magnitude.
Along with it came the first song from Soundgarden in 15 years, “Live to Rise.” The first single on Avenger Assemble, a 13-track complilation of music from and inspired by the movie, the song is featured in the movie’s end credits, sandwiched in there with the scene setting up the sequel and the now-famous shawarma scene.
Currently working on a new album in Seattle, due later this year, the band reunited two years ago, headlining festivals and going on a worldwide tour. In a statement, the band expressed their excitement for the collaboration. “When the opportunity arose to write an original song for Marvel’s The Avengers film, we thought it would be a cool match. We are excited to release our new song ‘Live to Rise,’ which is also the only new song in the film,” the band said, adding, “Loudest of Love.”
And they couldn’t be more right. Directed by Robert Hales (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janet Jackson, Kings of Leon, Justin Timberlake), the music video features footage from The Avengers with a live performance of the perfect rock anthem to accompany The Avengers, “Live to Rise.”
