The same day the web exploded with the latest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, a different branch of movie fans found out the second trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master had been quietly released and it quickly became a trending topic across all platforms. The much anticipated film from the There Will Be Blood director stars Joaquin Phoenix as drifter Freddie Sutton who befriends ‘the master,’ Philip Seymour Hoffman, who has created his own belief system that is catching on in a 1950s America.
The first trailer for the film gave us a glimpse of Phoenix’s character and his restless and destructive nature.
In the second trailer, we now get a look into Hoffman’s ‘the master’ a bit more, his wife played by Amy Adams, and his relationship with Phoenix. Like the first, it’s not a trailer or teaser in the traditional sense, which make it even more intriguing. The Master is in theaters October 12.
