When casting news kept rolling in about “American Reunion” – the fourth theatrical movie in the franchise (three others were direct-to-DVD releases) – excitement quickly started building at the realization that the entire original cast had signed on for the movie, now shooting in Atlanta.
Slated for an April 2012 release, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Coolidge, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kay Thomas and Eugene Levy will be back with hopefully as many raunchy and absurd laughs as they’ve delivered in the past.
Not much is known about the movie except circulating rumors that everyone is back together for their 10-year high school reunion and that Biggs’ and Hannigan’s characters now have a baby. Biggs (@biggsjason) and Nicholas (@TINBand) have been tweeting pictures from the set, showing some of the gang reunited.

When I caught up with franchise producer Chris Weitz earlier this week as he was promoting his latest directorial effort, “A Better Life,” he filled me in on the progress of the movie so far.
