In the upcoming crime caper comedy “30 Minutes or Less,” Michael Peña plays a hired hitman. While promoting the movie at Comic-Con, the actor talked about a real-life brush with crime, though, that happened while he and Jake Gyllenhaal were on a police ride-along, research for their movie “End of Watch” which started shooting earlier this week in Los Angeles.
The movie centers on two police officers — Peña and Gyllehaal — long-time friends and partners. Peña talks about their extensive research, the crime scene and apparent circumstances surrounding it.
Our friends at KTLA have details on the shooting and victim.
“End of Watch” also stars America Ferrera and Anna Kendrick. David Ayer, who wrote “Training Day” and “S.W.A.T.” and directed “Street Kings,” holds both titles on this movie. It’s slated for a 2012 release.
