We here at The Seven Sees have been anxiously awaiting the release of a new Skyfall trailer since we saw the incredible IMAX-exclusive trailer at Comic-Con earlier this month.

And now, that wait is over.  Columbia Pictures just debuted two-minutes, 30-seconds of pure suspense, thrills and adrenaline, giving us a great glimpse into this third installment in the Daniel Craig/Bond era, the 23rd movie in the franchise.

As we reported from Comic-Con, this preview also contains the train-top chase followed closely by Naomie Harris who is given instructions from Judi Dench’s M to “take the bloody shot.”  What was kind of ambiguous in the IMAX trailer is fairly evident here … Bond takes the hit and the long fall, plunging into the water below.

M and crew think that’s the end of Bond – she’s writing his obituary at one point – but the audience knows better.  Just like a cat, Bond has nine lives, and as he explains, “resurrection” is his hobby.

From the movie’s official synopsis – and now the trailer – we know that M’s past is coming back to haunt her.  We finally get a look at Javier Bardem in action as Silva, who so kindly informs Bond – on a mission to destroy the threat’s again MI6 and M – that “Mommy was very bad.”  So it’s very evident Dench has prominent story in Skyfall – and kudos to director Sam Mendes and the movie’s several writers for not wasting that woman’s talent.

From the action and explosions to the flashes of sexy, intimate scenes of Bond with Harris and Bérénice Marlohe, and even the introduction of Ben Whishaw as Q, the new trailer for Skyfall is one of the most thrilling and promising we’ve seen in a while.  And it probably helps that most of it is set to the stimulating music that is Monty Norman’s famous James Bond Theme.

Skyfall will be in theaters and IMAX November 9th, 2012.
