The new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, released today by director Peter Jackson on his Facebook page, is quite a revealing one. In addition to finally getting to hear Smaug’s rumbling, menacing voice, provided by Benedict Cumberbatch, we also get to see the budding romance between Tauriel, a character Jackson and his wife and producing partner Fran Walsh created for the movie, played by Evangeline Lilly, and Orlando Bloom’s Legolas.
And then there’s that little golden ring found by one Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman. But will he tell Ian McKellen’s Gandalf about his discovery?
Check out the trailer and five new marketing banners Jackson also posted for the movie, which also stars Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Richard Armitage, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis and hits theaters December 13th.
