It’s nothing new for an animated movie to be primarily a comedy, filled with fun and adventure, blended with some sort of dramatic storyline generally dealing with family, temptations or love, usually the forbidden kind.

But if the first trailer for Epic from 20th Century Fox is any indication, the drama is cranked way up in this story starring Beyoncé, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried and Johnny Knoxville.
In theaters May 24th, 2013, the movie is described as a 3D CG action-adventure comedy about the ongoing battle between the forces of good and evil set deep in the forest. Teenager Mary Katherine (Seyfried) suddenly finds herself magically transported into this secret world, she bands together with a group of whimsical characters to help save their land…and ours.
Set to the music of Snow Patrol (“The Lightning Strike”), the trailer, which premiered on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” is at first mysterious, then reveals a world of great beauty and life, even some of the danger that awaits in this hidden world, and a taste of the humor, which hopefully there is much more of.
